Festival neodvisnega filma Slovenije 2026

Thank you for joining us at FNF 2026 and celebrating jury’s special mention.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the screenings at the Festival neodvisnega filma Slovenije 2026, where our two short films, The Unfortunate Incident and Something Red, had their premieres. It means a lot for us to share our work with such an engaged and supportive audience.

We are especially proud to announce that The Unfortunate Incident, directed by Jan Fabris, received the jury’s Special Mention Award. As they noted: “Jan Fabris’ film The Unfortunate Incident takes us through a minimalist approach into the world of a young protagonist who, after a traumatic event, finds herself caught in the grip of social pressures, prejudices, and institutional mechanisms of power. Special mention must be given to Pia Pleško’s exceptionally convincing performance, who created a complex, multi-layered character of Mimi. Through the headmistress’ character, the film also critically examines society’s response to such events. The words ‘times have changed, but people’s attitudes have remained the same’ reveal deeply rooted patterns in which victims are stigmatized. The Unfortunate Incident thus opens up, in a subtle yet highly effective way, extremely important and current topics such as responsibility, violence, and the stigmatization of victims. The jury therefore awards the film a Special Mention for its outstanding acting performance and for its sensitive treatment of a subject that demands courage, precision, and empathy.”

This recognition is a meaningful acknowledgment of the entire team behind the film, whose dedication and creative vision made this work possible.

Thank you once again to everyone who joined us at FNF and supported The Unfortunate Incident and Something Red. Your presence truly matters, and we look forward to sharing more stories with you in the future.
