We are delighted to share that Something Red, a short film directed by Slovenian filmmaker Jan Fabris, has received two awards at the October 2026 edition of the Top Shorts Film Festival:
- 🏆 Best Indie Film
- 🏆 Best Actress – Jara Sofija Ostan
The 28-minute film, co-written by Jan Fabris and Suzana Kokalj, follows Sandra, a young woman who discovers an unexpected family secret following her mother’s death. Through a sensitive and visually compelling narrative, the film explores grief, identity, and the complexities of human relationships.
The film has also received an enthusiastic review from the Top Shorts team, who praised its thoughtful direction, powerful performances, cinematography, and subtle visual symbolism.
This marks another achievement for Jan Fabris, who has previously received recognition at Top Shorts for The Disappearance of Evelin Gale (2023), Lev Berger (2025), and Cold Blue (2025).
Congratulations to Jan and the entire Something Red team on this fantastic achievement! 🎬
